Draft policy
Safeguarding
No one works directly with young people until supervision, background checks, and reporting rules are real — not just promised.
Draft intent — not an adopted policy. These words explain what Cosmic Futures is preparing. They are not yet binding.
Before any cohort
Direct volunteer roles, mentoring, and one-to-one contact wait until safeguarding is adopted. Early helpers can build the program: space, meals, materials, professional services, and advice. They do not get informal access to youth.
What the policy will name
Who screens adults, what training is required, how a concern is reported, what happens the same day, and how a young person can speak up without retaliation. It will also name what Cosmic Futures is not: a crisis line, a housing provider, or a substitute for child welfare.
Ages 16 and 17
The program is being designed for ages 16–24. Minors will not be asked to submit personal information on this public website. Referrals, when they open, will come through agencies and trusted adults.
